Mines odds & probability
Because the board is fixed the moment the round starts, the odds are exact. The chance of collecting k gems (your number of picks) in a row without hitting one of the M hidden mines is a simple hypergeometric ratio:

How this Mines calculator works
The multiplier is just the fair (zero-edge) payout scaled down by the house edge:
Cashout multiplier = 0.99 ÷ P(survive k) (the 0.99 is the built-in 1% house edge)
That is the exact formula the casino itself uses, so our numbers match real Stake Mines to the decimal (e.g. 3 mines & 1 gem = 1.13×, 24 mines & 1 gem = 24.75×). Can you predict or hack Mines?
No — and here’s the proof. The mine positions are committed cryptographically (from the server seed, client seed and nonce) before you click a single tile. Nothing you do during the round can reveal or move them. That means:
A Mines predictor or “signals” app cannot know positions that are hashed and hidden — it’s guessing, and charging you for it.
A Mines hack / cheat that promises the safe tiles is a scam; the board is fixed and verifiable, not editable.
There is no pattern and no “hot” tile — each round uses a fresh seed and is fully independent.
Reality check: open the Fairness verifier tab and generate a board. Same seeds → same board every time; change the nonce → a completely different board you couldn’t have known. That’s exactly why predictors don’t work.
Mines strategy — what actually works
You can’t beat the 1% edge, but you can control your risk. The only two real levers are the number of mines (your risk level) and when you cash out (discipline):
Low risk level (1–3 mines): frequent small wins, rare busts — good for slow bankroll grinding.
Balanced risk level (5–10 mines): meaningful multipliers with a fair survival rate.
High risk level (15–24 mines): huge multipliers, tiny odds — pick a small number of tiles, then cash out or bust.
The expected return is ~99% at every setting — no mine count or cash-out point changes that. Pick a target multiplier before you start, cash out when you hit it, and never chase losses. Automation (auto-bet) doesn’t improve odds — it just loses the edge faster.
Is Mines rigged? The honest answer
No — but it is not beatable either. Mines is provably fair: using the revealed server seed, client seed and nonce you can recompute any past round and confirm it wasn’t changed after your bet (the Fairness verifier tab shows the method). What you can’t change is the built-in 1% house edge — over the long run you get back about $0.99 per $1 wagered. Fair does not mean profitable; it means honest.
